About the practice
Smartappsolution is a Kwun Tong–based practice focused on manufacturing variance audits for Hong Kong plants.
Why we exist
Manufacturing ledgers in Hong Kong often carry variance lines that nobody on the floor recognises. Standards drift after a tooling change; scrap is coded late; overhead rates lag a quiet quarter. We started Smartappsolution to sit between the cost sheet and the shop floor — translating both into one variance story a board can trust.
Origin
The practice grew out of repeated plant visits around Kwun Tong, Tsuen Wan, and the New Territories, where finance teams asked for help explaining material and labour swings that standard monthly packs could not. We kept the work deliberately narrow: manufacturing variance audits, not general consulting.
How we approach engagements
We begin with the period and the costing method you actually use — standard, hybrid, or approximate. Field time comes next: stores, scrap cages, work centres, and supervisors who know which tickets go missing. Desk analysis follows, then a draft workshop so operations can challenge our reading before anything reaches the board.
People
Mei-Ling Chow
Lead variance auditor. Former plant cost accountant for a metal-forming group in Kwai Chung. Leads full plant engagements and board-facing reports.
Dominic Ng
Field associate. Logs evidence packs, samples BOMs, and runs scrap-ticket trails. Background in warehouse supervision for an electronics assembler in Sha Tin.
Priya Raman
Engagement manager. Coordinates scoping calls, access schedules, and draft workshops from our Kwun Tong office.
Values we hold in the field
- Evidence before opinion — every material finding cites a ticket, invoice, or observed practice
- Language both sides can use — no report that finance understands and the plant rejects
- Confidentiality as default — plant access is a privilege; findings stay with the client
- Narrow craft — we refuse engagements outside manufacturing variance work when another adviser is a better fit
Hong Kong context
Our office is at Millennium City 3, 370 Kwun Tong Road, Kwun Tong. Much of our fieldwork sits within a short transit of that base, with day trips further into the New Territories when the plant requires it. Cross-border production linked to Hong Kong ledgers is in scope when documents and access can be arranged.
